Tunde Banjoko 27th January 2017

Today has been simply surreal. It began with the funeral of the mother of one of my oldest and dearest friends. A wonderful and fitting service to a kind and loving lady was held at the very same church where we conducted Lanre's funeral service. We went to the cemetery, and left when it was finished not to go to the reception, but to the cemetery where my Lanre is buried, because today is a year to the day that she died. Whilst there I also placed a gravemarker on the grave of my closest uncle, who died last year and I buried because he had no children. All of this going on the birthday of my youngest son and then to add further to the mix of emotions, I received an email from the Charity Commission confirming that the charity I have set up in my sister's name to help young kids in Africa with their education, has been approved. It came to life on the anniversary of her death. I am sad and elated in equal measure. The Lanre Johnson Charity, registered charity number 1171349. comes into existence today.
